Drunken Darth Vadar on the war path…

From the beeb: “A man posing as Darth Vader attacked a Star Wars fan, who had founded a Jedi Church, a court has heard.

Arwel Wynne Hughes, 27, from Holyhead, Anglesey, admitted assaulting Barney Jones and cousin Michael with a metal crutch. They suffered minor injuries.

Hughes, who was drunk and dressed in a black bin bag, shouted “Darth Vader!”

I can’t tell which is my favourite bit - the fact that he was dressed in a black bin bag or what the judge said:

“I hope the force will soon be with him.”

Legend.

EDIT: how did I miss this line - Hughes hit Barney Jones over the head with the crutch, leaving him with a headache.

This is my favourite news story on the Beeb EVAR :D

The Beeb’s news website has a list of famous videos on t’interweb including Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give You Up, Ok Go’s treadmill video, Beyonce falling on her face (OUCH!) and this:

“In 2005, a film-making body in New York issued a challenge to America’s assistant film editors - take an existing movie trailer, and re-edit it in an entirely different genre. The winner was 25-year-old Robert Ryang, who took Stanley Kubrick’s psychological horror The Shining and turned it into a breezy romantic comedy, set to the tune of Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill. So so good. I love how it shows how editing and music can completely change the tone of a film.”

They also list this wondeful piece of sunshine from the legend that is Will Ferrell :D

Yes, that is the worst post title in blogging history, I’m not afraid to say it.

But this is the best day of the year (so far) for several reasons:

1. I have been paid today

2. The new episode of LOST is downloading on my laptop at home for me to devour when I get home.

3. I have finally nearly paid off said laptop (wasn’t that expensive really, I’m just forgetful about paying things off sometimes. Probably not a good idea to lend me money).

4. It’s February!!!!! See ya next year January, don’t let the door hit ya on the way out!

As you can see, I’m easily pleased.

Aaaand, just to give this post an actual point - these are hilaryarse:

I had a very noice weekend actually. Slept alot yesterday which was lovely. Went to a very fancy 21st of all things on Saturday night. I thought I’d feel ancient, but despite the fact it looked like a Sweet Sixteen (gonna spread my wings…), there was a good bit of an older crowd at it (not including the mammies, daddies and auntie Marys). Drank far too many G and T’s but spent the next afternoon eating off the hangover and watching Summer Heights High. It’s fooking genius.

Here’s a clip if you’re so inclined:

The Ultimate Rejection Letter
January 13, 2008, 8:15 pm
Herbert A. Millington
Chair - Search Committee
412A Clarkson Hall, Whitson University
College Hill, MA 34109

Dear Professor Millington,

Thank you for your letter of March 16. After careful consideration, I
regret to inform you that I am unable to accept your refusal to offer me
an assistant professor position in your department.

This year I have been particularly fortunate in receiving an unusually
large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field
of candidates, it is impossible for me to accept all refusals.

Despite Whitson's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in
rejecting applicants, I find that your rejection does not meet my needs at
this time. Therefore, I will assume the position of assistant professor
in your department this August. I look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting future applicants.

Sincerely,
Chris L. Jensen
