I didn’t get to a single one of the Republic of Loose’s gigs in ze Academy

But I have been cheered up - apparently according to a random report I heard on the radio this morning they have signed a big deal in the US of A to allow their music to be used in a brand new tv show (name unknown to me at least) and, interestingly enough, a Gerard Depardieu film.

Google is not being my friend today and I can’t find any solid information on this. I was half asleep when I heard the report so maybe I just made it all up…

But I didn’t, yay for them!

Oh the film isn’t bad either! I probably would have loved it only I watched it the same day I finally saw Once for the first time and fell head over heels in love with it, and everything else just seems mundane in comparison.

They won’t say exactly when it’s out (dammit) but they have released the title - The Republic of Loose’s third album is to be called….

I’m going to Marios in Ranelagh tonight, my favourite restaurant EVAR. I’m so easily pleased, yay!

I was supposed to go on Sunday evening, but got stuck in the harbour car park in Howth because we decided to leave when the whole of Dublin had also made the same decision. I love love love Howth though, it’s just gorgeous.  I even fell in love with the seals which I wasn’t expecting to see at all. I told you I’m easily pleased.

Plus I heard this song on the radio this morning and I didn’t expect to like it but I do:

Not many people know this, but I used to have taste in music. The first ever gig I went to was Radiohead in the RDS when I was 13 years old. Yeah forget Boyzone, Take That, Blur or Oasis - I was into Radiohead and proud.

But then as I got older, we both changed and the love affair was over…  The more mainstream I became, the less mainstream they did and we just didn’t click anymore. Then nearly 10 years after I saw them for the first time in the RDS, I went along to Marley Park to rekindle the memories.

They broke my heart.

Not one - not a single one - of their old tunes did they play. Notta one. I felt cheated and like a girl who’d gained weight and ran into an old boyfriend who was now beautiful and trendy and in a totally different league.

Which is why I didn’t even go near ‘In Rainbows’, I couldn’t take the risk.

But then, just the other night, whilst flicking randomly through the channels, I saw them on Jools Holland, and couldn’t resist. And I loved it!  I don’t know what it means though - have I gotten taste again or are they just getting worse? Who knows. All I know is I’m happy to have them back in my lives again. At least until the next album anyway.

It’s like internet radio but it throws up a choice of different songs at you depending what mood you’re in, what tempo you want and what music genres you like. i’m listening to the Dubliners right now, happy days.

On the bad side, the sound quality is very dodge unless you want to register for a premium account which is about 4 dollahs. It’s handy for listening to music in work though.

Methinks I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Don’t know why but I’m in a complete fouler for absolutely no reason. My auntie brought my two little cousins over and then me and the mammy brought them to Dundrum to see Bee Movie. The film wasn’t bad actually, very kiddie but it’s short and quite watchable. Then when we went to MacDonalds afterwards, I seriously questioned ever having kids. The place was a mess and full of screaming ‘children’ with ketchupy faces determined to rub it over me and my new bag. Normally, I wouldn’t give a toss but today I had to stand outside and smoke 3 of my precious Vogue Menthols until I’d calmed down a bit.

It’s very strange, I have nothing to be moany about and usually I’m a total softie for the cutesy wutesy small people. Not today however. I’m in spoiled brat mode.

Seriously… that’s pretty crazy. There are kids involved for jeebus’ sake. I was just discussing Britney with a friend last night who says she much prefers her now that she’s gone loolaa as ‘it gives her a personality’ rather than the ‘virginal - look but don’t touch’ thing she used to have going on. I agreed to an extent but not if it gets to the stage if she’s off her face minding the babies. I mean, everyone likes a bit of crazy now and then and she’s no Amy Winehouse (or is she…) but leave the children out of it please.

And does anyone else feel that daddy K-fed only wants them for the child support?
