In the midst of all the kerfuffle over at the blogpound , I got to thinking about blogging and its purpose. Well that was after trailing off on thoughts about Sex and the City after typing ‘I got to thinking’… But anyway I digress…
It made me wonder why we have to justify why we blog – why we have to worry about what people want out of reading other blogs and writing their own. And with that said, let me justify mine. Ahem.
My personal take on blogging is that I like to share my various rambling thoughts and youtubes and linky nonsense that might interest someone else in some way or another. If nobody cares, so be it. However, I do love to see the comments and input that others have kindly left here and to be honest, I genuinely can’t see anything wrong with that. They’re always a lot smarter and wittier than what I wrote in the first place which is great fun to read ๐
Whilst some may say the blogging community has shifted, I would slightly disagree in that I think it has grown and expanded. It’s the interwebs people; it’s a big place with plenty of room for all sorts of blogs. It’s not a limited space – whilst one type of blog may grow, it doesn’t meant it has to outshadow another.
But anyways, my whole point about my personal take on blogging is this live performance by the Esbjรถrn Svensson Trio. It has absolutely nothing to do with blogs or the internet or Twenty Major of course, it is simply a performance which I adore and would like to share with anyone who passes by this blog. (Sad history of EST here)
I promise, I will never justify my blog again ๐

You should never feel the need to justify your blog Annie, but I think we all do occasionally. And your justification is much the same as mine would be. Except I’d swear more in the course of doing it.
Comment by Andrew October 2, 2008 @ 10:19 pmAnnie, thanks for sharing this. Much the same as Andrew, I fon’t think you should ever feel the need to justify your blog, and unfortunately in my incoherent and rambling rant my point, whatever that was, was lost, leading to many interesting threads of argument.
As you know, I like your blog. I come here when I need cheering up. I like the things you find, the thoughts you have and the way you say things. That’s why I read here. Same with Andrew’s blog, same with Darren’s and Lottie’s and Rick’s and LeCraic and TheChancer and … well, you know what I mean.
I’m quite frankly embarrassed that the rant took off like it did. I was expecting a comment or two just to say “get a life, cop on” or words to that effect but it’s there and people are finding something interesting there to comment on, so I’ll let it blow over, like these things always do. We’ll get back to tapping words into a little box, sharing things we like, smiling at the funnies, commiserating with the sad, dancing to the music. The sun will rise, the earth will spin and things will go on.
That’s what I’m looking forward to.

Comment by darragh October 3, 2008 @ 3:02 pmI like it here a lot – please don’t change it in anyway Annie.
Darragh – Outside till I chastise you some more.
Comment by Lottie October 3, 2008 @ 3:54 pm@ Andrew – I would swear too but I’ve got a goody goody reputation to keep up.
@ Darragh – Thanks very much, I really appreciate that. And with regards to the original post – It was a good old debate which is always interesting to read and as you said, it’ll all die down soon. Some other e-dramaz will pop up somewhere else or maybe we’ll just all be friends. Who knows. It’s why blogging is great ๐
@ Lottie – thanks a mill, I genuinely don’t think I would know how to change it if I tried!
