Ok, the snob in me wants to title this post “film taglines” but it just doesn’t sound right…
Anywhoo, I googled The Day After Tomorrow after watching it for the nth time last night (I love Jake Gyllenhaal, he’s a right cutie) just to see what rating it had on IMDB (6.3 in case you’re interested) and came across it’s tagline:
To be read in deep growly voice – “This year, a sweater won’t do” .
This year a sweater won’t do….. Seriously?!
Inspired by it’s naffness, I’ve gone on the hunt for other bad taglines and came across a few particularily dodgy ones:
“Prepare 4 the fantastic.” – Fantastic 4
“The Monster demands a Mate!” – Bride of Frankenstein (ewwww)
“How did they ever make a movie of Lolita?” – Lolita
“You’ll Believe A Man Can Fly!” – Superman
“Back when you had to beat it before you could eat it…” – The Caveman
“On May 6th… see Paris die!” – House of Wax (or is that a good thing…)
And… some of my personal faves:
“Does for rock ‘n’ roll what The Sound of Music did for hills.” – This is Spinal Tap
“Chucky Gets Lucky.” – Bride of Chucky
“In space no one can hear you scream.” – Alien (classic)
“Nobody Does Him Better” – Octopussy
“A tale of murder, lust, greed, revenge, and seafood.” – A Fish Called Wanda
“Vampires. No Interviews.” – From Dusk til Dawn
“Escape or Die Frying.” – Chicken Run
Here’s a listy type site of movie taglines in chronological order 🙂

“Back when you had to beat it before you could eat it…”
Suddenly the childhoods Saturday morning Capt. Caveman cartoons make sense…
